When the conversation gets difficult

You do not need more theory. You need a response you can use.

The workshop starts with the moments that create pressure at work, then gives you a practical way to move each one forward.

“I have already explained this twice.”

Slow the conversation down, acknowledge the frustration, and confirm the real issue before offering a next step.

“I want to speak to your manager.”

De-escalate without becoming defensive, clarify what you can resolve, and escalate professionally when needed.

“Why should I pay more for that?”

Connect the recommendation to the customer’s stated need, explain the value clearly, and respect their decision.

Your next-shift advantage

In your next difficult conversation, you'll have a plan.

Replace vague advice with a repeatable response, practical language, and a clear way to decide what happens next.

  • Follow the five-step CLEAR response when a customer complains.
  • Acknowledge frustration without accepting blame or making promises you cannot keep.
  • Ask focused questions that reveal what the customer actually needs next.
  • Explain options and boundaries clearly across phone, email, WhatsApp, chat, and face-to-face service.

The four-hour learning path

Learn one system. Practise it across real situations.

You will build toward the five-step CLEAR response: Compose yourself, Listen fully, Empathise, Agree the next step, and Record or review the follow-up.

02:50-03:25Difficult conversations and boundaries

Stay calm with unreasonable requests, say no professionally, and protect company policy without sounding dismissive.
